Your Starting Point

Home automation installation —retrofit or new build, both work.

Retrofit — no walls come down

Around half our installations go into existing homes. Loxone Air wireless devices fit behind your current switches, so Victorian terraces, period features, and listed buildings stay exactly as they are. Typical installation: 5–10 days.

  • Wireless devices behind existing switches
  • Original features and décor untouched
  • Installed room by room, minimal disruption

New build or renovation — wire it once

If your walls are open, this is the moment. Wired Loxone Tree infrastructure costs less to install during a build than a retrofit later, and it's more robust for life. We work from your architect's plans and coordinate with your builder.

  • First-fix cabling phased with your build
  • Every cable route designed before work starts
  • Planning now costs nothing — start with the free readiness check

Questions

Smart home installation, answered honestly

How much does smart home installation cost in London?

A starter installation for a 2-3 bed flat — automated lighting, room-by-room heating, and app control — runs £8,000-£15,000. A 3-5 bed family home with whole-house automation, multi-room audio, and security typically falls between £15,000-£40,000. Large or listed properties with every room automated start at £40,000. Every project is quoted itemised after a free survey, and our free cost calculator gives you a ballpark figure in 60 seconds without leaving an email address.

Can you install a smart home in an existing house, or only new builds?

Both. Around half our installations are retrofits into existing London homes — including Victorian terraces, Edwardian semis, and listed buildings. Loxone Air wireless devices fit behind your existing switches, so original features stay intact and no walls come down. New builds and full renovations get wired infrastructure, which is more robust and cheaper to do while walls are open.

How long does a smart home installation take?

A retrofit installation typically takes 5-10 working days including commissioning and handover. New build projects are phased with your construction schedule — first fix cabling while walls are open, then final installation and programming near completion. You get a named project manager and a clear timeline before any work starts.

What brands do you install?

Loxone for automation (we are certified partners), Ajax for intruder alarms, Hikvision for CCTV, Paxton for access control, and Ubiquiti UniFi for networking. We chose these brands after a decade of installations because they work reliably together and none of them charge monthly subscriptions. One team installs and supports all of it.

Do smart homes need monthly subscriptions?

Ours don't. Loxone processes everything locally inside your home — no cloud dependency, no monthly fees, and the system keeps working even when the internet goes down. This is one of the main reasons we install Loxone rather than cloud-dependent alternatives.

Which areas of London do you cover?

All of Greater London and the Home Counties. Most of our work is across North and West London — Hampstead, Highgate, Kensington, Chelsea, Harrow, Northwood, Stanmore — plus Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Site surveys are free across the whole coverage area.

What happens after the installation is finished?

You get a full handover — we walk you through the system until you're comfortable — plus documentation of everything installed. Support is for life: free firmware updates, remote diagnostics, and a team that already knows your home when you call. Most issues are fixed remotely before you'd even notice them.

Is home automation installation the same as smart home installation?

Yes — they're two names for the same job, and installers use them interchangeably. "Home automation" tends to describe the system logic (lighting scenes, heating schedules, presence rules), while "smart home" covers the whole result. Either way, the work is the same: design, cabling or wireless devices, commissioning, and programming — and this page describes exactly what that involves.

How do I choose a home automation installer in the UK?

Ask three things of any company you shortlist, including us. First, finished projects you can actually see — ours are published in full. Second, certification for every system they touch, not just the automation. Third, a written answer to "what happens if we fall out?" — with Loxone, any certified partner can take over your system, and an installer who dodges that question is telling you something. Longevity helps too: many home automation companies in the UK are newer than the systems they'll be asking you to live with for a decade.
