Why This Is a Specialism

A warehouse is the hardest WiFienvironment in ordinary business.

Office WiFi forgives mistakes — a weak corner is an annoyance. In a warehouse, a weak aisle is a picker standing still. These are the four problems we engineer around, learned the useful way.

Racking eats signal

Ten-metre steel racking turns a warehouse into a grid of radio canyons. An access point that covers an empty aisle dies the day the racking fills — which is why we survey with your stock in, not from a floor plan.

Scanners drop mid-pick

Handheld scanners are cheap radios that cling to distant access points. When roaming fails, the WMS session drops and pickers re-scan — the invisible tax on every order. We design cell sizes and power levels around the worst client in the building, not the best.

Cold stores and mezzanines

Chiller walls are metal sandwiches that block almost everything, and mezzanine floors create dead zones directly beneath them. Both need their own coverage, rated for the environment — condensation kills office-grade kit in months.

The forklift test

Our acceptance test is simple: a device streaming continuously, carried on a forklift, driven the full circuit of the building. If the session drops anywhere, we are not finished. That test is written into the handover.

Offices

Density is the problem here, not distance: 20 people bring 60 devices. We plan per-desk capacity, isolate guests, and give meeting rooms the bandwidth video calls actually draw.

Retail & hospitality

Tills and card machines on their own isolated network, guest WiFi that cannot touch them, and coverage that survives a full house on a Saturday.

Survey first, always

Predictive design from your plans, then an on-site survey with an access point on a pole — measuring real signal through your actual building before anything is ordered.

Enterprise access points

Ubiquiti UniFi as standard, Ruijie for larger estates — WiFi 6/6E/7 with proper roaming, mounted and angled for the space, not screwed wherever the cable reached.

Cabling & PoE switching

Every access point wired on certified Cat6a with PoE — no mesh hops, no repeaters. Tidy comms cabinets, labelled at both ends, documented at handover.

Segmentation & security

Operations, CCTV, guests and office traffic on separate VLANs with firewall rules between them. A compromised guest device reaches nothing that matters.

One dashboard, remotely managed

The whole network on a single pane of glass — every AP, switch and client visible. We monitor it remotely and usually see a failing device before you do.

And after handover

The network pairs naturally with our managed IT support: one team runs the WiFi, the helpdesk, the servers and Microsoft 365, so “network problem” and “IT problem” are never two suppliers pointing at each other.

Commercial WiFi FAQs

How much does commercial WiFi installation cost?

It is driven by the building, so we quote from a survey rather than a rate card. The variables that move the figure: floor area and ceiling height, how many access points the fabric of the building genuinely needs, how far cable has to travel to reach them, whether switching needs upgrading to PoE, and whether outdoor or cold-store areas are involved. A small office is a different project from a 60,000 sq ft warehouse — the survey is free, and the quote is itemised per access point and cable run so you can see exactly where the money goes.

How many access points does a warehouse need?

Fewer than a nervous installer will sell you, and more than a floor plan suggests. Racking height, aisle orientation, stock density and mezzanines change the answer more than square footage does — we have seen 40,000 sq ft sheds done properly with eight access points and 20,000 sq ft units that genuinely needed ten. The honest answer comes from the on-site survey: we measure signal through your actual racking with your actual stock in, then design to a minimum signal level at every pick face.

Our barcode scanners keep dropping connection. Why?

Almost always roaming, not coverage. Handheld scanners are conservative radios that hold onto a weak, distant access point instead of switching to the nearer one — the connection survives but the WMS session stalls, and the picker re-scans. The fix is engineering, not more hardware: correct cell overlap, transmit power turned down so scanners let go at the right moment, band steering configured for the devices you actually run, and fast-roaming standards enabled. We test with your scanners before we sign the job off.

Can you connect a second unit, gatehouse or yard office without digging?

Yes — a point-to-point wireless link. Two dish antennas with clear line of sight carry a gigabit-class connection between buildings for a fraction of the cost of civils and ducting. We use them for gatehouses, weighbridges, yard cameras and neighbouring units, and they install in a day.

Can CCTV run on the same network?

Yes, and it should — on its own VLAN. The same PoE switching that powers the access points powers the cameras, the recorder sits in the same cabinet, and camera traffic is segregated so it never competes with scanners or tills. One survey, one cabling contractor, one support contract — it is meaningfully cheaper than two separate systems, and it is how we install our own Hikvision projects.

Will the installation interrupt our operation?

Cabling and access point mounting happen around your operation — warehouses usually during quieter shifts, offices often in an evening or over a weekend. The cutover itself, when the new network goes live, is scheduled for a window you choose and typically takes under an hour. Nobody arrives Monday to find the WiFi down.

Do you support the network after installation?

Yes — every commercial network we build can be remotely monitored and managed by us, and most clients take that option. It also pairs naturally with our managed IT support: the same team that built the network runs the helpdesk, the servers and Microsoft 365, so there is never a gap between "network problem" and "IT problem" for suppliers to hide in.
