First badge of the day
The cleaner’s fob opens the side door, lights their zones only, and logs the visit. The rest of the floor stays dark and setback.
The floor wakes with the people
Presence brings each zone up as it fills: lighting to the daylight-corrected level, ventilation tracking CO2, heating already recovered because the schedule knew the forecast.
The boardroom earns its keep
One press: blinds drop, lights dim to presentation, the display wakes, and the ventilation steps up before the room notices twelve people breathing.
Lunch empties the east wing
Twenty minutes of vacancy and the zone settles — lights off, air conditioning eased, nothing dramatic, nothing anyone has to remember.
After-hours, by exception
The building steps down to after-hours mode. The two people still working keep their zone; overtime is a badge and a zone, not a lit six-floor building.
The audit nobody had to write
Doors log who came and went, meters log what each zone used, and anything out of range overnight — a frost risk, a failed pump, a forced door — wakes the right person, not everyone.

What is office automation?
It is the building services of an office — lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, access and metering — run by one control system against occupancy and schedules, instead of by separate timeclocks, thermostats and light switches. The practical result: zones respond to the people actually in them, after-hours use is by exception, and the building produces a record of what happened and what it cost.
Is this for new fit-outs or existing offices?
Both. A fit-out is the ideal moment because cabling is open, but existing offices are most of our conversations: presence sensors and wireless devices retrofit into finished ceilings, existing DALI or 0-10V lighting is usually controllable as-is, and VRF air conditioning integrates over a gateway. The survey tells you what can be reused — normally more than expected.
What does a smart office installation cost?
It scales with the points controlled, not with a licence. A single-floor office with occupancy lighting, zoned climate control and a couple of controlled doors sits in the low tens of thousands; a multi-floor fit-out with metering and full access control is quoted zone by zone from the survey. There are no per-point software fees and no annual subscription — a real difference from enterprise workplace platforms over a ten-year tenancy.
Can it work with our existing access control or alarm?
Often yes. We install and take over Paxton Net2 for access control, integrate Ajax intruder alarms, and interface to existing fire panels for door release. Where existing systems speak open protocols we integrate them; where they are orphaned we tell you honestly whether takeover or replacement is cheaper.
Do staff need training or an app?
The design goal is the opposite: the default day needs nobody to do anything. Switches and panels still work for overrides, meeting rooms get one obvious scene control, and the app and dashboards are for the office manager and facilities — occupants just get a building that behaves.
